Deidre Harrison was having a wonderful nature-sighting day.

She wrote, "I was sitting by myself at the Harbor Seal pullout [off The Sea Ranch] when I noticed what I thought was a particularly acrobatic seal. When I looked closer with my binoculars, I saw it was a large River Otter, actively fishing in that area, and three smaller otters, presumably her pups. As I watched, the group went further out to sea and headed south towards Shell Beach.”

That same day Deidre saw a young Bobcat in her driveway. I asked her about the size of the planter box to get a size comparison. She wrote, “The planter is about three feet high, and the little Bobcat looked amused rather than alarmed when my goofy dog started barking at her from inside the house.”

Any day you see a Bobcat is a good day!

Thanks to Deidre for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

For now, the smoke is gone. We have fog over the ocean this afternoon, with blue skies overhead.

Mark and Kitty Simkins have a Bobcat family near their home in Manchester. Mark caught this young Bobcat looking through a fence.

Mark said the Bobcat didn't try to get past this barb-wired fence. Does this cat with the tufted ears look a little peeved to you?

Thanks to Mark for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Ken Bailey was on The Sea Ranch when he spotted this young Bobcat. You can clearly see its tufted ears in Ken's photos. Lynx rufus is its Latin name. They can be seen in the daylight hunting rodents in grassy meadows.

I have it on good authority the The Sea Ranch has a plethora of Gophers and other rodents. That is why several healthy Bobcats are thriving there and living lightly on the land.

Thanks to Ken for allowing me to share his photos with you here. To see more of Ken's photography, here's the link to his website: http://www.seadreams.org/  He has taken some fantastic underwater photos and you can see them via this link.

Dave Bess looked out the window of his house and saw this young Bobcat hunting for rodents.

It looks like the Bobcat is close to finding its dinner. They are great gopher hunters and the meadows of The Sea Ranch have plenty of gophers.

Thanks to Dave for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Jan de Vries spotted a young Bobcat near his home of The Sea Ranch. It sure looks to be a young one.

This Bobcat hasn't really filled out yet but he's already out hunting rodents. Have I mentioned The Sea Ranch has plenty of gophers? Bobcats can be seen hunting gophers in grassy meadows during the daytime.

Thanks to Jan for allowing me to share his photo with you here.
