I'm happy to be able to share another panoramic photo with you here. Tom Eckles used his iPhone to capture the beauty of Anchor Bay Beach on New Year's Day.

What a great way to celebrate the first day of 2013. Yes, we are having beautiful but cold weather here. It's a nice break from all the rain we had in December.

Thanks to Tom for allowing me to share his beautiful photo with you here. To see more of Tom's photography, which is always untouched and honest, here's the link: tomeckles.com

Tom Eckles was traveling down Highway One when he saw this scene.

It almost looks like a painting. Thanks to Tom for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see more of Tom's photography, here's his website: tomeckles.com

One thing I very much appreciate about Tom Eckles is his promise that his photos reflect exactly what he was seeing. No Photoshop and even no cropping. He saw this Brown Pelican silhouetted in the blue sky and captured this photograph.

Could the sky be bluer? Just beautiful. Thanks to Tom for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see more of Tom's photography, here's his web site: tomeckles.com

A young Brown Pelican was hanging around the pier at Point Arena this week. We were concerned because this is abnormal behavior. Well-meaning folks probably were feeding it. That is not good for the Pelican because it needs to learn to fish for itself and can only do so by practice, practice, practice. Luckily the juvenile bird flew off. We do love the elegant Brown Pelicans!

The song goes, "March went out like a Lion..." but here on the Mendonoma Coast April is acting like a Lion. Yesterday's weather was wild with a bit of everything thrown in the mix. That brought a chance for rainbows and Tom Eckles was ready with his new iPad, which he calls an iPad3. A beautiful rainbow appeared in front of Tom's Gualala home, framed by two trees.

Today the story has been the incredible cloud show ever changing in the western sky. I took this photo from our deck in Anchor Bay this morning.

Last Friday and Saturday the Mendonoma Coast experienced offshore breezes and there was a green flash each night at sunset. Tom Eckles manged to photograph Saturday's Green Flash. I am quite jealous as I have tried and failed to capture this phenomenon. I console myself with the fact Tom is a professional photographer. Thanks, Tom, for allowing me to share your photo here. Yes, the Green Flash is NOT a myth!
