Craig Tooley was driving down Longmeadow Road when he spotted this Coyote, Canis latrans.

It looks pretty healthy and is probably feeding on the many Sea Ranch Gophers.

Here's another photo Craig took of a Coyote some time ago.

John Batchelder saw a pod of what he thought were dolphins or perhaps Killer Whales. They were Risso's Dolphins and many were breaching. Using his long lens, John got these photos. Risso's Dolphin breaching by John Batchelder Risso's Dolphins by John Batchelder Risso's Dolphins prey on Humboldt Squid and their bodies can be marked by the squids' beaks. The more scars, the older the dophin is. Here is a close-up of a Risso's Dolphin taken by Ron LeValley. Thom Matson has been enjoying two fawns near his home on The Sea Ranch. He recently photographed them, showing they have lost their spots.

Twin Fawns have lost their spots by Thom Matson

Lovely photo with the ocean in the background. These two fawns are living lightly on the land at Sea Ranch.

Young fawns are following their moms across Highway One. Just this morning a Doe and her fawn crossed right in front of us. It could pay dividends for you to slow down!

Thanks to Thom for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

It's fun to see what people do with driftwood that has been tossed on the beach. Margaret Lindgren found this structure on Walk-on-Beach at The Sea Ranch.

It comes with an ocean view by Margaret Lindgren

The bluff access to Walk-on-Beach was closed for some years due to bluff erosion. However it recently was reopened with the trail moved a bit inland. Many are very happy and grateful this trail is back open.

Richard Kuehn must have a lot of good luck as he sees an amazing amount of green flashes from his bluff top home on The Sea Ranch. It helps that he can see the sunset over the ocean every day of the year and that he takes the time to watch every sunset he possibly can. He recently photographed the green flash.

July 31 Green Flash by Richard Kuehn

Rick and I can't see the sunset three months of the year - it is blocked by Fish Rock Ridge - but we are now able to watch it as it "sinks" into the ocean. We too will be watching for this special mirage, the green flash.

Thanks to Rich for allowing me to share his photo with you here.
