Rick and I, along with our golden retriever Sunny, visited the Walk On Beach public access trail on The Sea Ranch. Sonoma County Regional Parks made the Sea Ranch public access trails free to the public recently. What we found when we reached the bluffs had me exclaiming! It was thrilling to see and hear the big waves crashing against the rocks. Yes, it was foggy, but that didn't bother us.

The sounds of the big breakers were amazing and watching the breakers crash against rocks was mesmerizing.

The young of our resident Gray Foxes are awfully cute. Once in a while they will make a den under a deck or wood shack. That's what happened for Michael Tilles at his place on The Sea Ranch. There are four kits in Michael's photo.

Then Janice O'Conner let me know she had a family of SIX kits at her place in Gualala. That's a large family, for sure.

Mary Sue Ittner recently photographed the bluffs at Black Point Beach while on a hiking jaunt with the Thursday Ramblers. This is a  wonderful place to see native wildflowers, and some non-native, very colorful flowers too. The flowers in the foreground are native wildflowers called Goldfields, Lasthenia californica.

Goldfields are blooming in profusion on many coastal bluffs. The Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands are another good spot to see them. They are members of the Sunflower family. Here is a close-up photo Mary Sue took of these flowers.

All these storms have brought big surf. Bill Oxford went out between storms to Black Point Beach on The Sea Ranch. He said the waves were massive.

We had a big storm today, which brought over two inches of rain. And it's still raining this afternoon. The weekend and the first of next week is predicted to be dry, so we will have a chance to dry out.

Craig Tooley photographed the many waterfalls tumbling over the bluffs at The Sea Ranch.

Here's a close-up of one. Most are seasonal creeks that come to life with the blessed winter rains.

During the last series of storms, many trees came down. Craig photographed one of them.

We had four trees come down on our property, several blocking a hiking trail we use every day. The sounds of chainsaws can be heard during this spate of dry weather, as we clean up from the deluge.

The forecast is sunny through the weekend! The southward Gray Whale migration is in full force right now, so this weekend could be a perfect time to see their spouts, a glimpse of their back followed by a tail. I love seeing them.
