Everything look beautiful in the setting sun - the clouds, the Pacific Ocean, the bluffs. Larry Anderson's photo shows ice plant in bloom on the bluff tops at The Sea Ranch. The trail invites you to take a walk on the beautiful Mendonoma coast.

Thanks to Larry for allowing me to share his photo with you here!

On May 9th, John Wall caught the magic!  He photographed a fogbow stretching over Gualala Point Island. We had fog with very high water content. Normally fogbows are completely white, but this one had a little hint of color.

Gary Curtis also photographed a fogbow that day, and his shows even more color.

These were both taken from The Sea Ranch. But fogbows were seen that day off Gualala and off Anchor Bay. Yes, I saw one that day too. It's rare to see a fogbow, so we are always excited about seeing one.

Thanks to John and Gary for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Jon Loveless recently photographed this Tom Turkey displaying his beautiful feathers to a very disinterested Hen.

You can often see this along Highway 1 this time of year, especially in the meadows of The Sea Ranch. I sure hope that female wild turkey gives him an approving look. He is rocking his feathers for her!

Thanks to Jon for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

One sign of spring is the appearance of the first Harbor Seal pups. Here's a photo of a newborn pup. It's important to keep humans and dogs off the beaches where these pups are born. At The Sea Ranch, near Shell Beach, docents are on the bluffs to inform people about their presence.

Here the newborn is nursing. Doesn't the mom look blissful?

And lambs appear at The Sea Ranch flock. Life is good when all you have to do is munch the fresh grasses!

I'll be sharing more photos of spring with you in the days ahead. Thanks to Allen for allowing me to share his photos with you here. To see more of Allen's nature photography, here is his website: http://allenvinson.smugmug.com/

One of the easiest waterfalls to see is the one at Stengel Beach on The Sea Ranch. Amy Ruegg went to check it out on Saturday after the big, juicy storm we just had. It did not disappoint.  You can almost hear the waterfall.

Here's a photo Amy took from the bluffs, showing paintbrush in bloom with the waterfall behind it.

Thanks to Amy for allowing me to share her photos with you here.
