It's a lovely plant with a pretty tough common name,  Swamp Harebell. It's quite rare, growing in wetlands. Margaret Lindgren found a nice patch of them at her home in the Redwoods at The Sea Ranch.

I'm told the flowers are quite small - I have never seen one...yet! A summer bloomer, as you can see, though it can also bloom in early autumn. Its scientific name is Campanula californica. This native wildflower is endemic to the Mendocino, Sonoma and Marin coasts.

Sunny and hot today away from the ocean. Looks like it's foggy to our north at the ocean's edge. Microclimates - the Mendonoma coast specializes in them!

Paul Kozal is an amazing photographer. He enjoys photographing the night sky and recently took this photo of the Milky Way, shining bright over Black Point Beach on The Sea Ranch.

The flowers in the foreground are non-native ice plant. They are quite beautiful in bloom in the spring and summer.

Roland Coombs was taking a walk on The Sea Ranch when he saw a family of Gray Foxes.

Look at the kit closest to the mother - the little one is trying to nurse! Roland advises people to always take a camera when you take a walk. Good advice, which I always take.

Another very warm day on the Mendonoma Coast! But there's a hint of coolness in the gentle breeze, just a hint.

John Wall and his dog, Dash, confirmed that there was no walking on Walk On Beach at The Sea Ranch recently.

Dash doesn't understand why he can't go down and run on his favorite beach. But for now, you can only enjoy this beach from the bluffs. Walk On Beach is one of the public access trails and beaches usually accessible on Sea Ranch. We look forward to the day when it, and others, can be reopened.

It's heating up on the Mendonoma coast! I call this tomato weather, as in good weather for growing tomatoes. Today, for the first time, I saw through our spotting scope two scrawny Osprey chicks in their nest. The father Osprey had brought fish back to the nest and the mother Osprey was feeding them. It was a happy sighting for me this morning.
