Paul Brewer photographed the sunrise off his Gualala home, showing some of the Douglas Iris in bloom on the bluff.

And Grace O'Malley photographed the sunset  in Timber Cove. Just looks at those luscious colors!

Good morning and good night!

Today is cloudy and chilly, with a chance of some of that wet stuff we've been missing so much.

This little squirrel, also called a Chickaree Squirrel or a Pine Squirrel, was looking right at Craig and his camera.

They eat pine seeds, acorns, berries and other fruits, and they are waiting for the first mushrooms to appear, as they eat them too.

Actually two people have found edible mushrooms recently, Boletus eduilis and Oyster mushrooms. But it's been too dry since our first two storms for many mushrooms.

We had a beautiful sunrise this morning, as clouds have been streaming by. Bonus pic taken by me. See the big moon in the upper right. A lovely way to start the day.

There are a lot of clouds this afternoon so we could have a spectacular sunset!

Gaily Jackson was up early and she headed for Gualala Point Regional Park. She photographed the Serge, the ceremonial posts carved and dedicated by the wood carvers of the Sakha Republic.

The Serge looks beautiful morning light. You can learn more about these posts at this link: https://parks.sonomacounty.ca.gov/Visit/Gualala-Point-Regional-Park/Serge-Posts/

Gaily also photographed the Gualala River, showing the iconic Mill Bend.

And the dawn.

We are very lucky to have this beautiful park here in Gualala, and a wonderful photographer to show its beauty. Thanks to Gaily for allowing me to share her photos with you here. To see much more of her nature photography, here is her website: http://gailyimages.com/

We had some surprise rain this morning, but this afternoon is splashed in sunshine.

Put clouds together with a sunset or sunrise and you have the perfect prescription for beauty in the sky. Last night's sunset was breathtaking. I took this from our deck - you can see the sun just setting on the right. No green flash, as there were clouds on the horizon.

Once the sun had set, here's a look at those beautiful clouds.

This morning didn't disappoint either. While the colors of sunrises are fleeting, they can be just as lovely in their own way.

This afternoon clouds have poured in, along with strong breezes. It feels like Autumn here on the Mendonoma coast!

Paul Brewer photographed a recent sunrise and sunset at Jenner. Jenner is where the Russian River empties into the Pacific Ocean.

jenner-sunrise-12-12-16-by-paul-brewer jenner-at-sunset-12-12-16-by-paul-brewerJenner is also where a pair of Bald Eagles has been spotted for the past several years. We think there is an active nest, as a juvenile was seen there too.
