The pair of Bald Eagles has returned and are involved with courtship and mating now. Ron Bolander was at Gualala Point Regional Park when he took this photo of a Bald Eagle soaring near the Gualala River.

What a beautiful blue sky in Ron's photo!

Rozanne Rapozo photographed one of the Bald Eagles as it landed on a snag in the river. Magnificent!

Thanks to Ron and Rozanne for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

We have a big storm coming in, which is to start in the wee hours of Saturday and continue all day. I'll report rain totals after the storm. We might receive a couple of inches of the wet stuff!

Paul Brewer always takes his camera with him when he travels coastal roads, thank goodness. This day he headed north and found a Red-shouldered Hawk on Lighthouse Road, north of Point Arena. The meadows there attract hunting hawks.

Paul pointed out the hawk has a band on its right leg. Wish we could see numbers but no such luck.

I love the call of these forest hawks. You can hear it at this link to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Red-shouldered_Hawk/sounds

It started off cool and sunny but some clouds began streaming in this afternoon. That makes for a beautiful sky!

Joanne Abramson wrote, "This was my first time photographing a Bald Eagle and I was so surprised to find him/her in a Cypress grove above Ten Mile River. May 4th was a foggy/hazy morning, and the fog drifted in and out between the eagle and me. It was a challenge to photograph him in the shadows of the tree."

"I waited two hours for him to fly over the ocean. It was worth the wait. They are magnificent birds."

To see these beautiful birds continue to recover in numbers and expand their territories is a joy. Thanks to Joanne for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

Looks like the wet weather has left for now. Beautiful  cumulus clouds are moving over the ocean, southward. It's breezy, sunny with a big dose of loveliness.

Gail Jackson noticed this Peregrine Falcon in a tree at Gualala Point Regional Park. The falcon was soaked from the rain.

This falcon doesn't look too happy! Here's a photo of a Peregrine Falcon soaring, taken by Michael Beattie. This Peregrine had much better weather for hunting.

Thanks to Gail and Michael for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

We've had a storm overnight and another one today. We have soared past 26 inches season to date at our place in Anchor Bay. Up ahead for next week? Sunny and mild!

Desiree Palestrini recently photographed the wonderful sight of a mature Bald Eagle flying overhead, over the hamlet of Anchor Bay.

Her photo shows the snowy-white tail and head, which tells you that this eagle is mature. We have a mated pair near the mouth of the Gualala River. They have been seen mating. We hope they will nest here, an exciting development in the recovery of these majestic birds.

Thanks to Desiree for allowing me to share her photo with you here.
