The Serge (pronounced ser-gay), a ceremonial hitching post, sits beautifully in a meadow at Gualala Point Regional Park. Loch Michie used the Serge to frame the then closed Gualala River with the town of Gualala to the right and the Pacific Ocean to the left. Just beautiful!

Thanks to Loch for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Today is near perfection, weather-wise! No wind, sunny skies, and temps in the low 70's. We know it won't last, as rain will be moving back in late Saturday. But for today, the living is easy!

Two weeks ago there was a big Supermoon to admire. Rozanne Rapozo was out with her camera documenting the beauty. She wrote, "Here’s a photo of the Super Moon rising over the eastern hills with the Totem [Serge] in the foreground." This is at Gualala Point Regional Park.

Rozanne wrote further, "And the other this morning, Thursday, at the Park to catch it setting behind the trees.”

Pretty darn gorgeous! Thanks to Rozanne for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

It's cool here today, with rain clouds moving in. The surface waters of the Pacific Ocean have changed direction, a sure sign rain is on the way. Normally the surface waters flow north to south, but this afternoon they are moving south to north due to the impending storm.

Gaily Jackson was up early and she headed for Gualala Point Regional Park. She photographed the Serge, the ceremonial posts carved and dedicated by the wood carvers of the Sakha Republic.

The Serge looks beautiful morning light. You can learn more about these posts at this link: https://parks.sonomacounty.ca.gov/Visit/Gualala-Point-Regional-Park/Serge-Posts/

Gaily also photographed the Gualala River, showing the iconic Mill Bend.

And the dawn.

We are very lucky to have this beautiful park here in Gualala, and a wonderful photographer to show its beauty. Thanks to Gaily for allowing me to share her photos with you here. To see much more of her nature photography, here is her website: http://gailyimages.com/

We had some surprise rain this morning, but this afternoon is splashed in sunshine.

With the Serge, a ceremonial hitching post structure, in the foreground, the sunset is beautifully framed behind it. Paul Brewer captured this lovely sight.

Gualala Point Regional Park is such a treasure. The Gualala River is just to the north of the park, and the town of Gualala just north of the river.

It's a beautiful, cool day here today, with lots of visitors celebrating the Labor Day holiday.

Paul Brewer has a knack for taking beautiful photos. Here are two photos of a recent sunset. The first shows the Serge, a ceremonial hitching post, with the Pacific Ocean beyond.

The second photo shows the Gualala River, which is currently blocked off from the Pacific Ocean by a big sandbar. It won't open until enough rain has fallen, usually sometime in the fall.
