Cooks Beach has become a favorite spot for locals and visitors. It's a fairly new public access spot, and we do love it! Many enjoy watching the sunset there, either from the bluff or down on the beach. Dede Plaisted recently captured this beautiful sight.

Thanks to Dede for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

It's cold and clear on the Mendonoma coast today.

When the Pacific Ocean is roiled up, the blowhole at Hearn Gulch erupts with a loud "whoosh!" Debra Mundt recently photographed the blowhole going off.

And here's a nice photo Debra took from the beach, showing the creek emptying into the Pacific Ocean with the blowhole going off in the distance.

Parking for Hearn Gulch is found at mile marker 10.0 in Mendocino County. To learn more about it, and other coastal access points brought to us courtesy of the Redwood Coast Land Conservancy, here is their website: http://www.rc-lc.org/

Cooks Beach has become a favorite spot for many of us. Look at the beautiful sunset photo Eric Duff took there recently. A Western Gull nonchalantly walks across the sand.

We have one more storm coming in this afternoon, the forecasters say. Then spring will make its presence known, with warm, sunny days ahead.

Thanks to Eric for allowing me to share this moment of beauty with  you here. To find out more about Cooks Beach, here's a link to the Redwood Coast Land Conservancy: http://www.rc-lc.org/

Cooks Beach, just north of the town of Gualala, has a large pocket beach, a creek for little ones to play in, and a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. It's a perfect place to go to see the sunset. Eric Duff did just that a few weeks ago.

I love the reflection on the wet sand. Thanks to Eric for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To learn more about Cooks Beach, here is the link to the Redwood Coast Land Conservancy: http://www.rc-lc.org/

Some smoke has flowed into the coast from the inland fires today. It's not too bad, but you definitely can smell smoke. There are a lot of evacuees here, and we are trying to help them as best we can. We pray the rain in our forecast materializes. It is forecast for late Wednesday. Rain would be such a boon for Northern California.
