Paul Kozal was out recently photographing the waves at Walk On Beach, one of the public access trails on The Sea Ranch. Here is what he captured:

Many Mendonoma residents went to the ridge to view the eclipse of the moon, Rick and me included. It was wonderful to see the red moon rising in the eastern sky. Paul Kozal captured this evocative photo of the event.

It was quite a spectacle with the moon being full. It was a Super Moon because the moon is closest to earth right now. It was a Harvest Moon because it was the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. And it was also a Blood Moon - quite an event!

Many thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see much more of Paul's nature photography, here is the link to his website: http://www.paulkozal.com/

I have a treat for you. Paul Kozal recently photographed the Milky Way from a sea cave. This is the magnificent result:

We are blessed with a lack of light pollution here on the Mendonoma Coast. The Sea Ranch, in fact, does not allow much outdoor lighting. Without light pollution, the sky is alive with stars and planets...and galaxies!

Thanks to Paul for allowing me to share this special photo with you here. To see much more of Paul's nature photography, here is his website: http://www.paulkozal.com/

I will have another Milky Way photo to share with you tomorrow, this one by Paul Brewer. Aren't we lucky these talented photographers are willing to share their work?

There was a huge fog bank and monsoonal clouds overhead. It made for a spectacular sunset. Paul Kozal took this panoramic photo of the event.

Jon Loveless caught some of the beauty too, a little later in the sunset.

Today is very warm on the coast. The cooling fog has pulled way back. Those who love warm weather, and I'm not among them, are very happy today!

The inland heat has coaxed the fog in. Paul Kozal has the ability to see beauty and to photograph it so we can see it too. Here's a recent photo of Dune Drift Trail on The Sea Ranch.

It makes me want to walk down that trail...
