Finding a bird’s nest is a lucky sighting. Paul Brewer wrote, “Brenda and Erik Draaijer located an Acorn woodpecker nest and were kind enough to point it out to me so I could photograph it. The baby sure is cute, and I owe this opportunity to two wonderful friends.”

We had an unexpected storm move in late Thursday and into Friday. We received 1.25 inches of the wet stuff at our house. It's unusual to have significant rain here in the middle of June. At the end of the storm, at dusk, a double rainbow appeared. Paul Brewer caught this event with his camera.

06-17-16 rainbow at Sunset by Paul BrewerI saw this rainbow through trees. It's pretty rare to see one late in the day - it had many of us gasping in awe.

Here is another double rainbow that Paul took some time ago.

It's always a happy sighting. Ospreys return to the Mendonoma Coast just in time for spring. Paul Brewer spotted this one on Easter Sunday.

That night Alan Reinke photographed the sunset from The Sea Ranch and wondered if the Pacific Ocean was on fire. Nope! Just another dramatic sunset.

Today we are having a mini heat wave, with very warm temps. Tomorrow the temperature is suppose to drop 20 degrees and the chance of rain comes back into the picture.

With lots of visitors here on the Mendonoma Coast for the three day holiday, I was happy that they got to experience fantastic sunsets and warm weather. Paul Brewer photographed Monday's sunset, a real gem.
