Craig Tooley was out on Friday the 13th, photographing the Wolf Moon. I love this first photo of the full moon framed by trees.

Craig did some research on why the first full  moon in January is called a Wolf Moon. The Farmer's Almanac states: "Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. Thus, the name for January's full Moon."

Paul Brewer also captured a lovely photo of this moon, but just before it set into a fog bank.

Paul Brewer is back on the Mendonoma Coast from his holiday travels. He came back just in time to photograph this morning's beautiful sunrise.

I photographed it too, though my view has trees in the way towards the south. The pinks and purples seen through the trees was dramatic too, and the ocean appeared a deep purple for a few minutes as you see in Paul's photo.

Sunrises are so fleeting. They are often the reward for getting up early, something I do regularly.

We are receiving lots of weather warnings in advance of several "juicy" storms. It will be an interesting seven to ten days of LOTS of rain. Here on the Mendonoma coast we are battening down the hatches!

Paul Brewer photographed a recent sunrise and sunset at Jenner. Jenner is where the Russian River empties into the Pacific Ocean.

On November 15th, the sunset painted the sky in the most beautiful colors. It simply took our breath away to see it. Several coast photographers kindly sent me their photos of the event. Wendy Bailey took her photo at Anchor Bay Beach.

Last night's sunset was another beauty. Paul Brewer went to Hearn Gulch to photograph it.
