I'd say pretty darn wonderful! Paul Brewer was the lucky person who saw a Bald Eagle in the morning, and Gray Whales in the afternoon. I love the first photo where it looks like the eagle is skimming the sandbar with his wing.
And then the Gray Whale.

Paul Brewer's wife, Jacquie, called out for him to get his camera quick! There in a tree by their Gualala home was an immature Bald Eagle.
Robert Keiffer and Ron LeValley took a look at Paul's photo and determined this is a one-year old Bald Eagle, an immature. They can fly great distances, so we have no idea if this eagle was born near here, or somewhere much further away.
Here is a photo Chris Beach took of the two mature Bald Eagles, presumably a mated pair, that have been thrilling us with sightings by the mouth of the Gualala River.
And we have news that there is a confirmed Bald Eagle nest north of Gualala, on private, remote land. I was told there was an active nest last year, and again this year. Perhaps we will have a nest discovered in the watershed of the Gualala River too. These are exciting developments for those of us who love these magnificent birds of prey.

Last Wednesday, when storm clouds were clearing out, a double rainbow appeared in the late afternoon. Rozann Grunig captured it soaring over woods and into the Pacific Ocean.
Paul Brewer also photographed it, albeit from a different location.
Today we have blue skies. Tomorrow the last in a series of storms is expected in the afternoon. 75.53 inches have fallen this season at our place in Anchor Bay. A "normal" rainfall year is 50 inches. Bye, bye drought!

The colors of sunrises are so fleeting, but can be so very beautiful.
A storm is approaching the coast. Yesterday we had sunny, warm weather, a balm after all the rain. But we have a storm coming in late tonight. Saturday is predicted to be rainy. Well, it's still winter, after all!

Many beautiful photos have been taken at Hearn Gulch, the beautiful pocket beach just north of Iversen Road in Mendocino County. On a stormy day, Paul Brewer photographed the coastline to the south.
Hearn Gulch is a beautiful spot and it's easy to walk out to the bluff and take in this beauty. Getting down to the beach is steep and often wet this time of year. There is a rope to help.
We are having a BIG storm today. Rain is just sheeting down. I hope everyone will be safe during this "river of rain" event.
