Sarah Wagner Flaim photographed the Milky Way earlier this week. Here is the spectacular result. The bright star to the right is Mars. Mars is very close to Earth right now.

The spectacular Milky Way by Sarah Wagner Flaim (1024x683)In the Huffington Post yesterday there was an article about how few people in the United States can see the Milky Way anymore. Light pollution is the culprit. Thanks to Sarah for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

Paul Kozal's night sky photography is a joy to behold. He just captured this photo of Sea Cove on The Sea Ranch and the Milky Way.

Just beautiful! We have a lack of light pollution here on the Mendonoma Coast, which is to be treasured. And it allows talented photographers to get photos like this one.

Thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see much more of Paul's nature photography, here is his website: http://www.searanchphotography.com/

I have a treat for you. Paul Kozal recently photographed the Milky Way from a sea cave. This is the magnificent result:

We are blessed with a lack of light pollution here on the Mendonoma Coast. The Sea Ranch, in fact, does not allow much outdoor lighting. Without light pollution, the sky is alive with stars and planets...and galaxies!

I will have another Milky Way photo to share with you tomorrow, this one by Paul Brewer. Aren't we lucky these talented photographers are willing to share their work?
