Eric Zetterholm photographed an Osprey framed by the moon, a spectacular photo worthy of being on greeting cards. Eric wrote, “We were down at Shell Beach and saw an Osprey hunting the shallow waters during a low tide. With a light wind, the Osprey was able to hover above the cove with the waning moon, and then dive down after its prey."

Isn't this lovely? Ospreys have such distinctive, whistling calls - I was hearing their calls earlier today. You can listen for yourself at this link to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Osprey/sounds

Thanks to Eric for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Cool fog blanketed the Mendonoma Coast early Saturday morning. It pulled back to leave us with a beautiful day, low 70's with no wind. Lots of visitors are here this weekend!

Bill Oxford noticed a low fog approaching the part of The Sea Ranch where he lives. The sunbeams mixed with fog created these lovely photos.

Bill is a professional photographer and I always appreciate it when he shares his talent with Mendonoma Sightings. You can see much more of his photography at this link: https://www.billoxford.com/

Today the dawn brought...rain! Not a lot, but it's definitely rain, about a tenth of an inch.

I love this photo Paul Brewer took at his Gualala home. The Fawn was standing facing the sunset when Paul got this wonderful photo.

Isn't it lovely?! Thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see much more of Paul's nature photography, here is his website: http://www.capturingnatureswonders.com/

Fog rolled in last night and is covering the immediate coast. It's sunny at Rick's and my place in Anchor Bay, 1/2 mile back from the Pacific Ocean. Micro climates!

John Harmon spotted this sweet sight, a Doe nuzzling her Fawn in the early morning light.

John captured a beautiful moment here on the Mendonoma Coast. I thank him for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Smoke from the wildfires arrived yesterday but it has abated some this afternoon. I just received the most welcome news that Highway One has reopened to our south this afternoon!

Yes, we need rain. But what we are getting are beautiful, sunny days, albeit very cold for the coast. Allen Vinson caught this lovely sight of Gulls in the water yesterday, near Walk On Beach on The Sea Ranch.

The sunrises and sunsets this past week have been heavenly. I will share some of them tomorrow.

Thanks to Allen for allowing me to share his photo with you here.
