Mark Simkins and Kitty Wolfe have sightings of a Bobcat near their Manchester area home now and then.  Last week this Bobcat emerged from the foliage and sat in the sun for a bit.

Here is a photo of a Bobcat kitten Mark took a few years ago. Just look at those big paws!

Thanks to Mark for allowing me to share his photos with you here.

oh, it's a beautiful day on the Mendonoma Coast. The fog has pulled back over the ocean, and it's sunny, calm and mild. Wildflowers are beautiful now.

Sierran Treefrogs have suction-like pads on their fingers and toes that allow them to easily climb anything they want to. Kitty Wolfe recently found one hanging on what looks like a ceramic flower pot.

These treefrogs are usually green, but they can change color to brown, and then back to green. This one is in the process of changing color but I don't know which one. They are fascinating tiny frogs.

After a two-day heatwave (okay, it didn't get that hot!), we are having a sunny, breezy, cool day. Lots of white caps on the Pacific Ocean tells us that upwelling is occurring in the ocean. Upwelling is when the surface waters of the ocean are pushed towards shore by a northwest wind. Colder, nutrient rich waters then rise to the surface, igniting the entire food chain.

The remnants of a hurricane traveled up the Mendonoma Coast. Late in the evening we had thunder and lightning, plus a smattering of rain. Kitty Wolfe captured this scene from her home in Manchester.

Mark Simkins and Kitty Wolfe were at The Sea Ranch when they saw this at low tide - thousand of mussels.

Other creatures to look for are Sea Urchins. Craig Tooley took this photo.

And Sea Stars, this one photographed by Noel Olson. It is an Ochre Sea Star.

Thanks to Mark, Craig, and Noel for allowing me to share their photos with you here. Tide pooling is a Coast tradition.

Mark Simkins and Kitty Wolfe have meadows around their Manchester home. Kitty says they have millions of gopher - yes, that is just an estimate. Bobcats LOVE gophers and can be seen hunting their favorite prey regularly. Mark recently got these photos.

Bobcats are often seen in the daytime here, though they are supposed to be nocturnal. They are agile hunters. Here is one of my favorite photos of one climbing the very high fence at the B. Bryan Preserve in Point Arena, photo taken by Judy Mello.
