I love these spring wildflowers! They almost seem to reflect the sky. They grow on coastal bluffs and are native to California. Shari Goforth photographed Baby Blue Eyes, Nemophila menziesii,  near the Point Arena Lighthouse a few weeks ago.

And Julia Larke photographed a group of them.

Thanks to Shari and Julia for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

It's another warm day, but not quite so hot as the past two days. Shari told me there was a little fog this morning at the PA Lighthouse. Fog is Mother Nature's air conditioner!

Nancy Feehan was the first to spot a very early Calypso Orchid, Calypso bulbosa, in late January. It was close to Fort Ross School. Recently Julia Larke found her first one in bloom. You can see the single leaf on the forest duff.

Then Peter Baye found a group in the Annapolis area.

These orchids are quite tiny so don't let these photos fool you! Theses flowers are also called Fairy Slippers.

Thanks to Peter and Julia for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Today, Saturday, was magnificent on the coast. No wind so the ocean was calm, and Gray Whale spouts were seen. Temps in the low 70's - we know it won't last but for now, we are enjoying the sun and the warmth.

Wildflower season begins early on the Mendonoma coast. One of our longest bloomers is the Douglas Iris. Marsha Dupre recently photographed some.

Barbara Rice found Indian Warriors.

Bea Hoover photographed Wild Ginger.

And Jutta Leibrock found Common Camas.

We have had rain showers this weekend, which will be wonderful for all the beautiful wildflowers. I was told on a wildflower walk led by Julia Larke that 45 different species of wildflowers were found at our new public access spot, Pelican Bluffs. That's amazing!

Thanks to all above who have allowed me to share their photos with you here.
