There was a huge fog bank and monsoonal clouds overhead. It made for a spectacular sunset. Paul Kozal took this panoramic photo of the event.

Jon Loveless caught some of the beauty too, a little later in the sunset.

Today is very warm on the coast. The cooling fog has pulled way back. Those who love warm weather, and I'm not among them, are very happy today!

Thanks to Paul and Jon for allowing me to share their photos with you here. To see much more of Paul's nature photography, here is the link to his website: http://www.paulkozal.com/ and the website for his gallery in Gualala is: http://studio391.net/

For courtship displays, it doesn't get any better than a Tom Turkey. Jon Loveless captured this photo recently.

There has to be a hen or two close by. Here's a photo Cathleen Crosby got of a Tom trying to impress a gal.

To show you the intense colors of the male, here's a popular photo by Siegfried Matull. He caught it flying out of a hedgerow.

Jan de Vries tells me that, from his house in Berkeley, the sun perfectly lines up with the Golden Gate Bridge twice a year. Many years clouds or fog obscure the view. But this year the weather was clear. Last week he took this photo of the sun setting behind the iconic bridge.

With the calm weather we've been having on the Coast, fishing boats can be seen plying the waters at night. Jon Loveless recently photographed a sunset with a fishing boat at work.

Two big Bucks were seen together recently. But they weren't practice jousting like they usually do this time of year. They were preening each other. Jon Loveless photographed them.

Nancy Padgett recorded a video of the two Bucks. She has allowed me to share her video with you here.

They apparently were removing pests from each other. Thanks to Jon and to Nancy for allowing me to share their photo and video with you here.

Jon Loveless recently spotted this handsome Buck - a four-point Buck in velvet. The western count is used here, where just one side of the antler prongs are counted.

He's a beauty. In a few months he will be looking for Does to call his own. Thanks to Jon for allowing me to share his photos with you here.
