Adrian Bennett reported that the first fawns were seen - twins - at The Sea Ranch. Others have been born near Point Arena. Jan de Vries had a Doe leave her newborn fawn on his doorstep.

So now that the first fawns are here, many more will be born in the weeks to come. When a Doe crosses a road, always wait a moment or two to see if a fawn...or two...or three...is following behind her. It's a delight to see a gangly, beautiful fawn.

Jan de Vries noticed these Western Gull chicks. One was exercising its wings, perhaps ready for its first flight.

Here's a photo taken by Craig Tooley of newly hatched Western Gulls. They blend in with rocks and pebbles - don't they look very different from a full grown Western Gull?

Jan de Vries spotted a Gray Fox on the move.

Then the fox stopped to scratch an itch.

Here's a close-up Jan took a while back - a beautiful Gray Fox.

Gray Foxes are year round residents of the Mendonoma Coast. Kits have been born recently and the parents are raising them together.

Jan de Vries tells me that, from his house in Berkeley, the sun perfectly lines up with the Golden Gate Bridge twice a year. Many years clouds or fog obscure the view. But this year the weather was clear. Last week he took this photo of the sun setting behind the iconic bridge.

With the calm weather we've been having on the Coast, fishing boats can be seen plying the waters at night. Jon Loveless recently photographed a sunset with a fishing boat at work.

Two beautiful photos of sunsets for you today! Thanks to Jan and Jon for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Though this photo wasn't taken off the Mendonoma Coast, we do see Humpbacks this time of year. Jan de Vries was traveling in Panama a few weeks ago when he took this photo. It's such a wonderful photo that I couldn't resist sharing here with you.

We have a storm front approaching the Coast, the first rain we have seen in three months. Our rains usually don't begin until October. As we've had a very dry year, we are welcoming this storm!

Thanks to Jan for allowing me to share his great photo with you here.
