Two young Gray Fox kits are growing up on the Sonoma Coast. Siegfried Matull captured a photo of the Foxes playing on a Redwood stump at his Sea Ranch home. You can see the beautiful orange-red highlights of the Foxes. In the right light they also have a blue cast to their fur - whoever named them "gray" must have been color-blind! Gray Foxes are also called Tree Foxes for their ability to climb most anything. They are fun to watch and to photograph. Thanks to Siegfried for allowing me to share his photo here.

Is there anything cuter than a Gray Fox Kit? I don't think so. Here are two photos from Craig Tooley that make my case. Thanks to Craig for allowing me to share them here.

One of the cutest critters on the Mendonoma Coast is a  Gray Fox Kit. They are being born now in hidden away dens or, in the case of one lucky woman, underneath a deck. Kathryn Hile discovered a litter of four Fox Kits under her deck in her enclosed courtyard in The Sea Ranch. What fun Kathryn will have in the days to come, photographing these enchanting creatures.
