As it usually does, the high inland temperatures coaxed the fog back to the coast. Today it is fifteen degrees cooler at our house than yesterday. Hello fog, my old friend!

Peter Cracknell took a beautiful photo of fog on the coast from Highway One. A bicyclist is taking a break.

Here's a recent photo I took at Gualala Point Regional Park. A finger of fog reaches for the town of Gualala.

Much of August, fondly called Fogust, has been foggy. And not high fog but drippy, wet fog. John Nelson couldn't believe it when he found this group of delicious, edible White Chanterelles.

We have these mushrooms on our land, but we did not have an early bloom. I guess we'll have to wait for the winter rains. May they be plentiful - the wild mushrooms and the rain!

Fog is part of living on the Mendonoma Coast. When it burns off, or pulls back to hover over the Pacific Ocean, the color of the trees and ocean seems even more vibrant. Cathleen Crosby photographed the fog line by Bowling Ball State Beach.

Bowling Ball Beach is one of the best places to beachcomb on the Coast. It has unique stones that look large huge bowling balls. They are uncovered with a low tide.
