I am thrilled when one of the coast's photographers captures the Green Flash at sunset. Kate Bloch did just that and was reward with a double Green Flash.

To see a Green Flash is said to be lucky. Does that mean Kate is doubly lucky? I say Yes!

This afternoon is has begun raining hard. We've had over 2 1/2 inches from the past couple of days. I'll report the totals after this windy storm moves out.

This photo from Allan Hogle made me laugh. The sun is setting while he is waiting to get through the construction project on Highway One. All of a sudden the two lights turn green at the moment the sun is setting...a unique, double green flash!

Here's a photo of a more traditional green flash taken a while ago by Allen Vinson.

Thanks to Allan and Allen for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

It's quite overcast today and oddly warm - temps in the low 70's. Rain is in our forecast for the weekend. More Boletus edulis have been found and the first Chanterelles too. Hooray!

Last week there were several green flashes at sunset.  Michael Reinhart was ready with his camera and he got this photo of the optical illusion. See the green on top of the clouds? And then again on the horizon - a double green flash!

Here's a green flash taken a few years ago by Rich Kuehn. The sun appears to narrow and then pinch off at the middle. This is a perfect example of that phenomenon beginning to occur.

And Jim Grant got this amazing photo of a double green flash.

Green flashes come in various guises. To watch the sunset is always wonderful, but if you also get to see a green flash, consider yourself blessed!

Thanks to Michael, Rich and Jim for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

The fog pulled back this afternoon and the Pacific Ocean is sparkling in the sun.
