When the Pacific Ocean is roiled up, the blowhole at Hearn Gulch erupts with a loud "whoosh!" Debra Mundt recently photographed the blowhole going off.

And here's a nice photo Debra took from the beach, showing the creek emptying into the Pacific Ocean with the blowhole going off in the distance.

Parking for Hearn Gulch is found at mile marker 10.0 in Mendocino County. To learn more about it, and other coastal access points brought to us courtesy of the Redwood Coast Land Conservancy, here is their website: http://www.rc-lc.org/

Thanks to Debra for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

Debra Mundt was enjoying hiking at Hearn Gulch when she came across an early blooming wildflower. Wight's Paintbrush, Castilleja wightii, is a perennial herb. It is a California native and is only found in California. I thank Debra for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

The Mendonoma Coast is experiencing a very wet storm today. The creek that runs through our property is doing its best imitation of a mighty river. After this series of storms is over wildflowers will burst into bloom on coastal bluffs. Hearn Gulch is a spot I'm definitely going to visit in the weeks to come.

With the clear weather we've been experiencing on the Mendonoma Coast, the sunsets have been awe-inspiring. Debra Mundt recently captured a lovely photo with sunbeams streaming through the clouds and I thank her for allowing me to share it with you.

We had also had Gray Whale sightings from my spotter on The Sea Ranch, Adrian Bennett. A Gray Whale was seen on Friday, the 9th and two on Saturday the 10th, all headed south, presumably to warmer waters.
