Paul Brewer watched as a pair of Common Ravens tried to chase off one of the two Bald Eagles at the Gualala River. Paul photographed one of the Ravens trying to start down the Bald Eagle. It doesn't look like the Bald Eagle is having any of the Raven's attitude!

Thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see much more of Paul's nature photography, here is his website: http://www.capturingnatureswonders.com/

ooo, we had rain earlier this morning. We celebrate any of the wet stuff when it's been so dry. We didn't receive a lot but we did get .13 inches. The moss on the trees was moist this morning. I love to run my fingers over it as we walk along a forest path.

Karen Wilkinson noticed two Common Ravens and one of them had what she thought might be chewing gum in its beak.

It looks like this raven caught a caterpillar. Ravens are omnivores. I had a recent report of ravens eating candle wax!

Here is a close up of a raven taken by Allen Vinson - quite a beautiful bird.

And here is a comparison of size between a Common Raven and a Bald Eagle, taken by Gail Jackson.

Thanks to Karen, Allen and Gail for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

We are having the most loveliest day on the Mendonoma coast today. Gentle breeze, warm temps - just about perfect!

We share the coast with Common Ravens. Many love them, and some do not. Allen Vinson recently photographed one. Look at that big beak.

They are extremely intelligent. They have many different calls and can even mimic humans. In fact, one raised in captivity was taught to say "nevermore."  Allen photographed this raven calling. If we only had sound with this photo!

Ravens eat practically anything, including carrion. Please don't feed them; they don't need our help to thrive.

The day Ken Bailey photographed the two Bald Eagles, he also photographed a Common Raven perched on a snag.

Ravens are bigger cousins of Crows. They are extremely intelligent and have many vocalizations. I was told there are over 40 different sounds Ravens make. To prove the point, a few days ago I thought our golden retriever, Sunny, was choking. Nope, it was a Raven just outside the open window. Fooled again!

A fun photo of a Raven was taken by C'Anna Bergman-Hill. She captioned it, "Look Ma, I'm standing on one leg!"

Thanks to Ken and C'Anna for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

John Batchelder watched this Osprey fishing for its dinner. Here is the moment it snatches a fish.

An Osprey snags a fish by John Batchelder

The Osprey took the fish to a treetop to eat it, but a Common Raven decided to try and steal the Osprey's meal.

The Osprey wasn't in a sharing mode and took off with half of a fish.

Does the Osprey looked miffed to you?
