With all of life's complexities, it is good to notice some of the simpler things in nature. Carolyn André was heading back up the coast and she stopped several times to take photographs. I was struck by the sweetness and peacefulness of this Gull wading in the water.

When spring winds arrive the ocean becomes turbulent and very beautiful.

Here's what Carolyn wrote, "“There were two pups diving off of the moms and doing somersaults underwater. Then, back up on Mom. Moms and pups – the annual show.”

The best place to see Harbor Seal mothers with their pups is at Tide Pool Rookery off The Sea Ranch or the mouth of the Russian River at Jenner.

The air is soft and warm here on the Mendonoma Coast today and a string of good-weather days is in our immediate future. This would be a great time to visit the Coast.

Carolyn André was delivering Meals-On-Wheels to her clients recently. She took a break to photograph the coastline. Can you hear the murmur of the Pacific Ocean?

Abalone season opened as did the recreational salmon season. There are happy smiles on the faces of those who venture out onto or into the ocean to get a tasty dinner. Carolyn André photographed a recent sunset with a fishing boat in the foreground.

After the rain clouds lifted late Wednesday the sky was beautiful. Rob Diefenbach trained his camera on the sunset and got this green flash.

The same night Carolyn André photographed the sunset. The back story here is - she's never seen the green flash.

Carolyn still hasn't seen the green flash. She didn't know she photographed it until she uploaded the photo. I told her that it normally is easier to SEE a green flash than to photograph one. Too funny.

To see a green flash that turned into something more, here's the link: http://www.mendonomasightings.com/2012/08/10/a-green-flash-that-turned-into-something-more-as-photographed-by-coastal-photographer-ron-levalley/
