Ron Bolander noticed this Bobcat sitting in the sun.

And then the cat with the bobbed tail heard something.

The Bobcat stealthily approached a gopher hole.

And then, he/she put its head in the gopher hole.

And drug out a very large gopher. Poor gopher! But this is the food chain in action. The Bobcat then took his meal off into the bushes.

Did you know a Bobcat's markings, the spots and lines of its coat, are unique to each animal? Just like our fingerprints.

Thanks to Ron for allowing me to share these actions photos with you here.

It's a little cooler today, especially close to the ocean, and a breeze has picked up. Sunny skies are the order of the day. Happy Spring!

Eric Zetterholm noticed this Bobcat sitting in a meadow at The Sea Ranch.

Suddenly the Bobcat rose up and began staring at Gopher holes. Eric watched the cat with the tufted ears try to get a tasty rodent, but this time the Bobcat was unsuccessful. Just look at the intensity in the Bobcat's face!

Saturday is a spectacular day, warm with no wind. Last night, watching with friends, we saw a beautiful green flash at sunset. There is blessed rain in our forecast!

James Adams spotted this beautiful Bobcat hunting in a meadow on The Sea Ranch.

You can see the tufted ears in James' photo. Fun fact: each Bobcat's markings are unique, just like our fingerprints.

Thanks to James for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

We are having sunny but windy weather today. The northwest wind causes upwelling in the Pacific Ocean, igniting the entire food chain.

This Bobcat was on the trail of a tasty rodent. David McFarland took a series of four photos. The Bobcat is hunting, then pouncing, then stretching out in the air - something I haven't seen before - and then the Bobcat misses.

Here are two of my favorite Bobcat photos. The first was taken by Allen Vinson and shows the intent stare of the cat with the tufted ears. The second is a rare photo of a Bobcat kitten, taken by Mark Simkins.

Mark Simkins recently sent in two photos taken in the Manchester area. The first is a Bobcat hunting in front of his house.

The second photo is of a Buck at dawn.

We have a lot of beautiful Bucks here right now as this is the time of the rut, their mating season.
