Kate Bloch was out on the bluffs when she saw this Great Blue Heron fly by. And there is a seasonal waterfall behind the graceful bird.

We have had a nice amount of rainfall and seasonal creeks and waterfalls are beautiful now.

Thanks to Kate for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

Sunny and windy today, and temps in the low 50s.  There was 0.75 inches in our rain gauge, giving us 54.60 season to date. 50 inches is a nice, wet winter so we're doing great!

This year the city of Point Arena hosted their fireworks show last Saturday night. Fortunately the skies were clear. Paul Kozal was on the bluffs photographing the event.

Happy 4th of July!

Mary Sue Ittner recently photographed the bluffs at Black Point Beach while on a hiking jaunt with the Thursday Ramblers. This is a  wonderful place to see native wildflowers, and some non-native, very colorful flowers too. The flowers in the foreground are native wildflowers called Goldfields, Lasthenia californica.

Goldfields are blooming in profusion on many coastal bluffs. The Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands are another good spot to see them. They are members of the Sunflower family. Here is a close-up photo Mary Sue took of these flowers.

Spring wildflowers are in glorious bloom. The bluffs at The Sea Ranch are a great place to see them. Allen Vinson recently took these beautiful photos.

Here is a field of Goldfields.

You can see that we've been having lovely weather.
