Wayne Smith photographed this beauty, which we believe is a Giant Puffball.

Barbara Thrush photographed a Short-stemmed Russula.

There is beauty in the fungus that appears after some rain. It's been too dry this past week for many mushrooms to appear, but that looks to be changing, starting Friday.

Thanks to Wayne and Barbara for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Today is sunny and mild. Last night's sunset was so beautiful. Okay, bonus photo! Taken by me last night.

Allen Vinson noticed this early morning sight, sunbeams streaming through the forest.

Allen also photographed one of several beautiful sunsets we had over the past weekend. This is from Friday night, Jan. 15, 2021

Beauty is everywhere!

Another lovely spring-like day, but there is rain coming in late this weekend, I hope! In the meantime, larger numbers of Gray Whales are passing by the Mendonoma Coast, headed southward. From our Anchor Bay perch, this is what the sunset looked like last night.

Just lovely, sunsets are the gift that keeps on giving.

Yesterday, and again today, the weather has been spectacular...spectacular if you love sunny, wind-free days. We know it won't last, so let's enjoy it for now.

It's amazing how a sunset evolves, changing color and shape. I never get tired of watching them. Craig Tooley photographed last Thursday's sunset at The Sea Ranch.

And Janet Kukulinsky photographed the same sunset, a little earlier in the process.

Thanks to Craig and Janet for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

We have rain coming in for tomorrow, but we just had a shower today, Tuesday. Rain is always welcome here! Boletus edulis are popping now, and Oyster mushrooms too. Mushroom foragers have happy grins on their faces.

Julie Hidalgo took this photo at the southern end of Gualala, showing the Vue Coastal Kitchen Restaurant and the Hotel Breakers. I entitled Julie's photo "Day is Done."

An unbelievably warm day for Dec. 7th, with temps in the low 70's. It's not right, it's not normal, but it's what we have for today. I actually have my windows and doors open...amazing.
