Eric Duff was at Cooks Beach to experience the beautiful sunset we had last Saturday, Sept. 9th.

To see the colors of the sky reflected in the water on the sand is special. And I thank Eric for allowing me to share such beauty with you here.

The weather looks fine for the weekend and the Mendonoma coast beckons you. If you'd like to find Cooks Beach, here is the website to the Redwood Coast Land Conservancy. http://www.rc-lc.org/

You will find directions for Cooks Beach, plus another of my favorites, Hearn Gulch, and the Gualala Bluff Trail. Rick and I, along with our golden retriever, Sunny, walked the GBT yesterday. A Gray Whale was seen just off the kelp beds. We always see something from this trail. Thank you, RCLC!

It was a sunset that kept on giving and giving. It started with a green flash, which Rick and I observed from our deck - the first one we've seen for a while. Then the sunset colors lasted for so long, nearly an hour. It was wonderful! Paul Brewer captured it for us to see and relive.

I have another wonderful photo of that sunset which I will share tomorrow.

Thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see much more of Paul's nature photography, here is the link to his website: http://www.capturingnatureswonders.com/

We had clouds from a tropical disturbance, and we had smoky skies from fires from elsewhere, and we had high temperatures from the heat wave that occurred over the holiday weekend. Anne Mary Schaefer made lemonade when she photographed a beautiful, albeit a little eerie, sunset on September 2nd.

It's not often we see a magenta-colored sun! But it does make for some dramatic photos. Look how the light reflects in the Pacific Ocean - beautiful!

The smoke is gone, the heat wave is over, and it feels more like it should for this time of year. We all look forward to autumn, a wonderful time to be on the Mendonoma coast.

We had some subtropical clouds move up from the south last week, even bringing a few drops of rain. Clouds bring the opportunity for a beautiful sunset, and Paul Brewer was there to get this lovely photo.

We have had a lot of fog in the mornings, rather typical for August, or as some locals call it "Fogust!"

Clay Yale recently sent me this photo of a sunset. The sun reflecting through clouds seems to form a golden eagle!

It's never too late to share a beautiful photo. Thanks to Clay for allowing me to share it with you here.
