Paul Anderson photographed this sight at the Point Arena Pier, a large dumping of round balls of hail, looking just like an inch or so of hail. This is nearly sea level!

A few days later, some of us were gifted with the sight of a beautiful rainbow. This one's pot of gold is resting on Fish Rocks off Anchor Bay. I took this photo.

Thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

We are waiting for another big storm, another river of rain event. At least it is warmer so no snow/hail should fall. Batten down the hatches!

Perry Hoffman slowly approached the resting Harbor Seals, who were lounging on the sandbar on a sunny day. Don't they look happy and contented?

A Common Raven appeared, perhaps looking for remnants of the Harbor Seals' meal. The Harbor Seals didn't seem to mind.

Lastly, Perry saw a beautiful rainbow on New Year's Eve.

Now that's a nice sighting for the last day of the year.

A big storm is hitting the Mendonoma Coast now. With the first wave, in the wee hours of Wednesday, we received 0.75 inches. Lots more coming down now. Power it out for many of us. I am fortunate to have a backup generator, which is how I can send this to you today. Batten down the hatches!

Richard Charter recently photographed a beautiful, vibrant rainbow on the Sonoma Coast.

After the rains, next week could be epic for wildflowers on the coast!

A wild and wet storm arrived yesterday [we got over two inches of rain], and the unsettled weather behind it has brought downpours, a little hail, mixed with brilliant sunshine today. A wait-five-minutes kind of day!

Craig Tooley photographed a couple of rainbows, one showing the big surf we are having.

After today's showers, the weather is suppose to be sunny and warmer through the weekend. Time for a trip to the Mendonoma coast? It should be beautiful.

Yes, we are receiving some much needed rain. When storms move through we are often left with rainbow days. Jin Sharples recently photographed a double rainbow.

One of my favorite rainbow photos was taken some time ago by Peggy Berryhill. It shows the mouth of the Gualala River.
