Anne Mary Schaefer knows a beautiful setting when she sees one. She recently photographed the sea stacks off of Elk, one of the most photographed spots on the coast. I always marvel at this sight when driving by.

It is hot, hot, hot here on the coast today. Someone must have left the heater on! We are not used to such hot weather here, where the Pacific Ocean usually has a cooling effect. As I post this at 1 pm, it is 96 degrees at our place in Anchor Bay. 96 is the highest it has been since we moved here over 21 years ago. We are obviously going to break that not-so-fun record. Bring back our fog!!!

A storm out over the ocean is predicted to bring high surf and dangerous riptides beginning tonight. You know you should never turn your back on the ocean, right? Once in a while, a sneaker wave can come way in and surprise you. Don't be that person!

Anne Mary Schaefer captured a beautiful photo of the ocean and what she calls a "roiling sunset surf."

Anne Mary photographed this at Manchester Beach. Time will tell if the high surf warnings bring us a roiling ocean. Perhaps Anne Mary will be out with her camera to document it.

Manchester Beach is a coast treasure with five miles of sandy beach. Anne Mary Schaefer recently photographed a sunset there with a flock of shorebirds in the foreground.
