Several days ago clouds added the necessary touches for a beautiful sunset as seen from our deck in Anchor Bay. The first shows sunbeams shining through the clouds onto the Pacific Ocean.

And then the sunset.

We are having lovely weather here on the coast. I overheard two visitors congratulate themselves for vacationing here. Changes are ahead, we know, but for now we enjoy these sun-drenched days and starry nights.

Not everyone on the Mendonoma Coast got to see last night's beautiful sunset, as fog hugged the immediate coast. But Rick and I were able to see it unfold from our place in Anchor Bay. It lasted almost...forever.

Of course my camera can only capture a portion of the colors, so you will have to imagine the colors extending left, right, and overhead. Wow, what a wonderful sunset!

This afternoon waves have begun crashing against the shore. A storm from elsewhere is bringing high surf and dangerous conditions to beaches for today and tomorrow. Stay safe everyone.

Several weeks ago we had monsoonal moisture drifting up from the south. It made for a beautiful cloud show as the sun began to set. I took this photo from our deck in Anchor Bay.

Some Mendonoma loveliness for you today...

This is the end of the mating season of our local Black-tailed Deer. Big Bucks migrate onto the Coast and fight over which Does will be in their harem. Glenn Funk photographed this handsome Buck in Anchor Bay - perhaps he needed a rest after chasing all his Does.

Clay Yale photographed this four-point Buck on The Sea Ranch.

The Bucks look healthy with their beautiful antlers.

Thanks to Glenn and Clay for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Barry Richman was helping a friend out - I believe the feeding of a cat was involved - when he saw the early morning sun light up Fish Rocks.

The rocks glowed in the sunlight for about two minutes, a lovely sight to behold.

Fish Rocks is off of Anchor Bay and part of the California Coastal National Monument [CCNM]. There is an active colony of male Sea Lions there and seabirds nest on the west side.

To learn more about the CCNM, here is the link to the Bureau of Land Management: http://www.blm.gov/pgdata/content/ca/en/prog/blm_special_areas/nm/ccnm.html
