Eric Zetterholm leaves work for his lunch break and he often heads to the Gualala River. This past week he spotted this adult Bald Eagle.

A few days earlier he photographed this Bald Eagle (the same one?) and the eagle nabbed a Lamprey, an eel-like fish, for its meal.

A little after this sighting, the adult Bald Eagle flew off. And, to Eric's wonderment, a juvenile Bald Eagle flew in and posed for him.

It's always a thrill to see a Bald Eagle!

It rained last night (.20 inches) and it's lightly raining this afternoon. It's suppose to dry up for the holiday weekend, and then watch out! Lots of rain predicted for next week, a river of rain event.

I have had numerous sightings of a Bald Eagle in the Jenner area and, in fact, I saw one at the mouth of the Russian River last week. But this is the first photo I've seen of a pair, presumably a mated pair. Paul Brewer recently photographed these two adult Bald Eagles.

They were feasting on a fish. We have high hopes that we will have a nesting pair of Bald Eagles on the Mendonoma Coast.

Bald Eagles are a rare sighting on the Mendonoma Coast. We hope one day they will be a common sighting. It's always exciting to see one of these magnificent birds. Paul Brewer and his wife Jacquie were driving up to the town of Mendocino when they spotted this beautiful Bald Eagle by the Navarro River. As they watched the bird flew down and drank from the river.

We have rain in our forecast, the first rain in many a moon. This is what the sky looked like from our deck in Anchor Bay this morning. Storm is on the way!

Siegfried and Gretel Matull were parked at Jenner, overlooking the mouth of the Russian River. They were watching the Harbor Seals lounging alongside the river bank when a large bird flew by. Gretel thought it was an Osprey but it turned out to be a Bald Eagle.

What a thrilling sight to see this beautiful bird, which is an adult. We continue to hope that a pair will soon nest on the Mendonoma Coast.
