There are two rabbits seen on the Mendonoma Coast - the Black-tailed Jackrabbit and the much smaller Brush Rabbit. Jon Loveless recently photographed this Brush Rabbit near his home on The Sea Ranch.

With all the Easter egg hunts going on today, it seemed appropriate to share a rabbit photo!

Thanks to Jon for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Oh my, it's a lovely day here. No wind, blue skies with clouds passing by, and warmer temps. sigh.

It's always a happy occasion to see the first Harbor Seal pup of the year. He/she was born last Sunday at the Tidepool Rookery off The Sea Ranch. Karen Wilkinson was there with her camera. The mother and pup soon entered the ocean.

Here the pup catches a ride on the back of his/her mom.

There is a very sweet photo on page one of the Independent Coast Observer from this series by Karen. Hope you subscribe!

Thanks to Karen for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

There was 1.30 inches in our gauge from the storm that came through Thursday night/Friday morning. But today is dry and mild, with many clouds passing by. Gray Whales have been seen today, heading north. We'll be looking for the first mother/calf pair soon - another heartwarming sighting.

A Doe found her way into April's beautiful garden. April said she caught the Doe "pre-munch."

Thanks to April for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

It's sunny here today with NO WIND!

Last Sunday was a mixed bag, weather-wise. But butterflies had a sunny window to get out and find some sweet nectar. Amy found several different kinds of butterflies.

First up is one we don't see very often, a Two-banded Skipper.

And one of our most common butterflies, Gray or Grey Buckeye. It's been recently renamed - previously it was called a Common Buckeye.

Then another rarer one, an Echo Azure.

And finally the bright Mylitta Crescent.

Quite a nice bunch of butterfly sightings by Amy! Thanks to Amy for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

Sunny and breezy today. Our weather forecast changed and more rain is headed our way by Thursday afternoon.

It's unusual to see two adult Bobcats together but this is spring, and love is in the air. Ron Bolander was in his car when these two cats with the tufted ears crossed in front of him.

Ron said they were near Stoneboro Road.

Here is a photo Ron took some time ago of a Bobcat sitting in the sun. Bobcats are said to be nocturnal but they are regularly seen in the daylight hours here on the Mendonoma Coast.

Thanks to Ron for allowing me to share his photos with  you here.

It's lightly raining here today and there is no wind. We are supposed to go into drier and warmer weather next week. I think we can all agree that we're ready for that!
