Rainbows over the Pacific Ocean, over meadows, and even over Highway One, are a treat from Mother Nature. Many of us believe we are getting a hello from a loved one who has crossed over. I always try to photograph the ones I see from our place in Anchor Bay. Here's a recent one.

This photo of Peggy Berryhill's in on page one of the Independent Coast Observer this week. She titled it, "We're off to see the wizard!"

And here are two more rainbow photos taken by Peggy, including a double rainbow.

Perry Hoffman took this lovely rainbow photo after a recent storm

And Tom White took this spectacular photo of a rainbow at dawn on the first day of winter.

Each one is just glorious! Thanks to Peggy, Perry and Tom for allowing me to share their photos with you here. I hope you can take some of this beauty with you into the New Year!

Happy New Year. May there be peace.

Rozanne Rapozo went to Gualala Point Regional Park on Saturday and photographed one of the big waves coming in.

Thanks to Rozanne for allowing me to share her photo with you here. Tomorrow I will end the year with some beautiful rainbow photos. I did see a rainbow this morning, always a gift.

The Pacific Ocean is roaring today. The storm has moved on and we have several days of dry weather. This week's storms brought 4.15 inches of rain at Rick's and my place in Anchor Bay. Season to date is 18.43 inches!

After yesterday's storm, the Gualala River was running high and fast. The Pacific Ocean was roiled up with huge breakers and the river was full from the rains. Here's what it looked like Thursday morning from the Gualala Bluff Trail. The river is pouring into the ocean, while the ocean breakers are flowering over the sandbar.

Here's a video of the action today. Update on the video below. I watched it on my large screen and found a River Otter swimming in the raging river. See if you can spot her!

More rain coming in tonight and tomorrow. 2.30 inches from yesterday's storm. I'll report rain totals and season to date figures with the next post. Can you tell I love weather?!?!?

Rozanne Rapozo was at Gualala Point Regional Park with several other coast photographers when they heard the angry calls of two Common Ravens. The ravens chased a Red-tailed Hawk off its roost and into the air. Rozanne was ready with her camera and captured some of the action as the ravens continued to try and bully the raven out of "their" area.

The hawk flew off, leaving the ravens victorious, at least this time.

Thanks to Rozanne for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

Lots of rain blew in, more than predicted. 2.16 inches in my gauge from last night/this morning's drenching rain. A bit of a break this afternoon!

This Gray Fox looks like he/she is waiting for someone. Could this fox be watching and waiting for Santa Claus? It's possible!

Thanks to Mike for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Today was a beautiful, mild day. Visiting family members went on a mushroom hike with me and we found more Matsutakes! What a year for this special mushroom.
