Eric Zetterholm found this juvenile Bald Eagle drinking water, or perhaps looking for a fish, at the Gualala River. Behind him or her is a Killdeer on the riverbank.

Thanks to Eric for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Sunny and very breezy this afternoon!

Pat Whelan's motion detector camera has been busy lately. Just several weeks ago it photographed a Black Bear, which I shared on this blog. Then this beautiful Mountain Lion saunters across her front porch, looking very comfortable with the surroundings. Here's a screen shot from the video.

And here is the video: Mountain Lion visit courtesy of Pat Whelan

Thanks to Pat for allowing me to share this photo and video with you here.

Sunny and very breezy today. The wind whipped up the Pacific Ocean, creating many whitecaps.

That would be the Brush Rabbit, Sylvilagus bachmani, who Adrian Adams recently photographed. They are a species of Cottontail Rabbits and found on the West Coast of North America.

Fun Fact: Brush Rabbits thump their back feet when startled.

Thanks to Adrian for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

It's sunny and breezy today, temps in the mid 70's.

Some Black-tailed Jackrabbits, Lepus californicus, call the Mendonoma coast their home. Jon Loveless managed to get this great photo of one who momentarily posed for him in a meadow, with the sun shining through his or her big ears.

They are also called American Dessert Hares. They mostly eat shrubs and grasses.

Thanks to Jon for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

It was much cooler this morning, but the afternoon was warm with some pretty strong winds. There are some clouds overhead, adding interest to the oh-so-blue sky.

I love these spring wildflowers! They almost seem to reflect the sky. They grow on coastal bluffs and are native to California. Shari Goforth photographed Baby Blue Eyes, Nemophila menziesii,  near the Point Arena Lighthouse a few weeks ago.

And Julia Larke photographed a group of them.

Thanks to Shari and Julia for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

It's another warm day, but not quite so hot as the past two days. Shari told me there was a little fog this morning at the PA Lighthouse. Fog is Mother Nature's air conditioner!
