Cindy Morey has a kind heart. She wrote, “Greetings from Irish beach. I saved a family of Wild Turkeys yesterday near Manchester. I stopped to take a photo just as they crossed the road and was able to stop traffic in both directions so they were safe. I call this photo ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road.’”

I count eight chicks or poults in Cindy’s photo, along with the mother. Nice work, Cindy!

Thanks to Cindy for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

Once again it was very foggy this morning, with brilliant sunshine in the afternoon. Looking down at Anchor Bay with a friend this afternoon was something special. The blue water sparkled in the afternoon sun, beckoning you to come and play.

Mike Reinhart found four Tom Turkeys displaying recently. The Toms are hoping to impress the hens nearby.

Just look at their beautiful breeding plumage. There is a LOT of different colors going on!

Fun Fact: Wild turkeys can swim if they have to. They pull their wings in close to their bodies, extend their tail feathers and kick!

Thanks to Mike for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Breathtakingly beautiful day here today, with temps in the mid-60s. sigh...

You wouldn't know just how colorful the Coast's Wild Turkeys are until you see Siegfried Matull's photograph. This is a male, a Tom, flying out of a hedgerow.

Wild Turkeys, Meleagris gallopavo, will eat just about anything. They forage on the ground but can also climb on shrubs and small trees. And they are pretty good fliers considering their heft! Thanks to Siegfried for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Carolyn André caught a Wild Turkey en pointe - up on its toes. It looks like it's doing an impersonation of a ballerina. Carolyn had another thought for a title - "Dressed for Thanksgiving, high heels and all!" The two other Tom Turkeys don't seem to be at all impressed.

I hope this photo will bring a smile to you today!
